2020 Get Active Expo / Townsville Hike and Explore

The Get Active Expo was held at the RSL Stadium in Townsville on Sunday 12th January. The Expo was another great initiative put together by the Townsville City Council with more than 100 sporting clubs and associations getting together to promote a healthier lifestyle and the importance of positive physical and mental health outcomes for our community.  Now in its fifth year the expo is a one stop sport, recreation, health and fitness exhibition.

Townsville Hike and Explore was fortunate enough to have a stall at the Expo and a few of our members spent the day enthusiastically and tirelessly spreading our groups message of fun, fitness, friendship and community with a focus on highlighting and promoting the Townsville Region. We shared walking, hiking and adventuring experiences and discussed past and upcoming events suitable for all ages, fitness levels and capabilities.

We had plenty of walking, hiking and adventuring photos to share with the community, as well as an assortment of equipment and safety gear we take with us on our hiking and exploring adventures. Also on display were some of the more interesting and unique items we have come across on our travels.

It was another amazing event and we found that yet again, there is a lot of interest from the public and other groups keen to hear about what our social group is all about, details of upcoming events and what we have planned for the future.

We spoke with community members of all ages, fitness levels and capabilities and judging by the interactions throughout the day, we expect to see many new faces at our events in the coming months.

To top off a fabulous day and event, we were awarded the “Best Dressed Stall”, chosen from more than 100 Stalls!
